Supporting the Family Caregiver

The role of the treatment team in supporting the family caregiver.

What you will learn from this module:

1. Learn the physical and emotional needs of the caregiver managing the patient at home.
2. Understand the stress and challenges loved ones face while caregiving.
3. Realize that oftentimes the oncologist’s focus is solely on the patient and not on the loved one who is caregiving.
4. Understand that a caregiver for a patient might be someone outside of the family- like a close friend. This can be due to the lack of family members, dysfunctional family dynamics, or ages of family members (young and old).
